A large fire engulfed 22 vessels in the Medulin marina

There was a big fire in the marina in Medulin last night. The fire engulfed the yachts, about 20 yachts and boats are on fire, and several have sunk. The firefighters of JVP Pula have been fighting the fire since 4 a.m. For now, it is not known how the fire started, and according to the information so far, no one has been injured. The police received a report about the fire in the Medulin marina at 3:55 a.m. The fire spread from one boat to another, and fifteen firefighters with four vehicles from the Pula public fire department soon arrived at the scene, joined by other colleagues around 7 a.m. The situation at the fire site shortly before 8 a.m. was under control, the fire did not spread further, but the firefighters will certainly have work to do for hours after which an investigation is expected to clarify the causes.

According to the latest information, the fire engulfed at least 22 yachts and boats, and some sank. The damage caused by this fire is in the hundreds of thousands of euros. Police officers will conduct an investigation in cooperation with the inspector of fire, explosives and weapons protection when possible, the Police Department of Istria reported around 12:00 p.m. There is a police forensic team on the ground which, in cooperation with the Port Authority of Pula, is examining surveillance camera footage and the remains of burned ships, while an absorbent dam has been placed around the piers to prevent further spillage of gasoline and oil from sunken ships. There is also an eco boat on the way to Medulin Bay.
