Monaco Yacht Show changes format to broaden appeal

With just three months to go, the organisers of the 2021 Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) have announced that they are changing the format of the event to broaden its appeal. Some 300 exhibitors are so far confirmed for MYS 2021, to be held at Port Hercule from September 22-25, and nearly 60 superyachts will be present including 40 new launches from builders such as Benetti, Feadship, Lürssen and Oceanco to name a few.

The organisers are working with all the relevant authorities to ensure that the event will be set in a Covid-safe environment and include the participation of major players from across the industry. MYS 2021 will include the new Dockside Area, a part of the exhibition dedicated to companies directly linked with the construction or management of superyachts and tenders. This will therefore be exclusively open to end customers in possession of a ‘Discover’ badge on September 22, the first day of the show.

The organisers say: “The Dockside Area fits in perfectly with the way Monaco’s Port Hercule is divided up for the show: for several years now, each area of the exhibition has featured its own theme in order to better meet the visitors’ expectations.”

MYS 2021 will include two new exhibitions. The first is dedicated to sailing boats, held on Quai l’Hirondelle where several craft will be moored opposite the stands representing their respective shipyards, designers and specialist equipment manufacturers. In addition to the show’s historic Designer Gallery, MYS 2021 will feature a Yacht Design & Innovation Hub – a new space for the presentation of yacht design projects where visitors can also interact with designers.

“These two areas,” the organisers add, “perfectly complement the luxury tender and water toys exhibitions at Tender & Toys (Quai Antoine Ier), in addition to luxury cars at the Car Deck (Quai Antoine Ier), luxury products (Parvis Piscine tent), nautical equipment manufacturers and the latest tech releases (Darse Sud and Quai Albert Ier).”

Throughout the whole MYS 2021, an anti-Covid sanitary protocol will be respected, from the first day of preparations to the dismantling of the last stand and, of course, during the four days of the show.

Gaëlle Tallarida, general manager of MYS, stated: “We are following the evolution of the pandemic very closely, as well as the sanitary constraints applied in each of our visitors’ home countries. As organisers of the exhibition, our responsibility is to ensure safe and healthy conditions for each visitor, exhibitor, service provider and member of staff. The MYS will therefore be following the health measures instated by the principality’s government, as well as the ‘AllSecure’ health security programme, which is mandatory for all Informa Group events.”
