Panjić wins third title in five years, Razjaren Croatian champion for third time in a row

A great May Day sailing weekend in Trogir. The City of Craftsmen opened the Trogir Outdoor Festival for the third year in a row, and the backdrop of the Kamerlengo fortress and the views of the old town were a beautiful stage for exciting clashes between 22 crews from six countries (CROATIA, Italy, Germany, Great Britain, Poland and Hungary) who sailed the European Melges 24 series regatta, which was also the last regatta of the Luki Baustoffe CRO Melges 24 Cup this season.

A total of six races were held over the three days of the regatta, and the title of the best in the strongest Croatian sailing competition was won for the third time in the last five years by the Biograd-based Panjić crew, with a point advantage over the Trogir-based Mataran 24 crew, while the Razjaren crew won the Croatian champion title for the third time in a row.

‘In this kind of competition, you have to be persistent and consistent. This year we sailed with four crew members for the first time, which turned out to be a successful move considering the lighter winds we had in these four regattas of the Luka Baustoffe CRO Melges 24 Cup. In addition, having a little more space in the cockpit was definitely a bonus. The sailing this year was truly extraordinary, and as the class president, I am filled with pride watching how the Croatian Melges 24 fleet is constantly growing, attracting a significant number of international crews to our competitions. Our class in Croatia is very open and ready to cooperate and it is a great pleasure to see young lions like Cro-a-sail and Panjić junior making great progress, and new crews like Uskro quickly catching on. I must certainly praise the organizing clubs and our partners with whom we raise the quality of the competition every year,’ emphasized Luka Šangulin, president of the Croatian Melges 24 Class Association and winner of the Luka Baustoffe CRO Melges 24 Cup.

In the Corinthian competition, the overall title was won by the Little A crew, while the Croatian champion title went to the Blue Label crew. In the U24 category, which was introduced to the Luka Baustoffe CRO Melges 24 Cup regatta this year, the Cro-a-Sail crew won.

‘Last year we won the national championship title in the Corinthian division on Hvar, and this year we took the Luka Baustoffe CRO Melges 24 Cup, so our progress is very visible. The whole season has been challenging, and the regatta in Trogir was especially demanding. We are extremely proud of our owner, Domagoj Jaklin, and our young talents on board who have done an outstanding job throughout this season,’ said Stjepan Ćesić, helmsman on Melges Little A.
