Polet Furioso winner of the Paiška regatta

The Paiška regatta, which sailed in two races on the route Split - Stari Grad (Hvar) - Split, has ended. The winner of the "Paiška regatta", and at the same time the best boat according to the ORC survey, is the sailbot MR. J. and helmsman Damir Desabota from JK Val. The fastest ship in both stages was the helmsman Nikola Dešković and Polet Furioso sailing under the flag of JK Labud. Thus, this crew deserved the transitional trophy awarded to the fastest ship of the Paiška regatta, and two works of art on the theme of sailing ships, by Andro Tadić-Šilo, which they deserved as the fastest ship in each of the stages. A similar work of art was awarded to Leo Lemešić, the winner of Saturday's regatta in the bay, who was at the helm of the Pinocchio.

The second voyage was interesting because of the frequent changes of winds and weather conditions for sailing. There were sailing in the south wind, falling into the bonaca periods (calm sea), sailing in the maestral, and it is interesting that during the afternoon when the crews were already convinced of the stability of the south that blew through the canal, many were surprised by a new "rush" of bonaca, which bothered them a lot when trying to enter the finish line. But what everyone will certainly remember for good, the atmosphere and the hospitality of the hosts in the Stari Grad. "Paiz" lived that pre-pandemic Mediterranean life this weekend

Damir Skelin, the director and originator of the "Paiška regatta", is especially pleased. It also serves the tourist-nautical promotion of the Stari Grad, which is already extremely attractive to boaters, and sometimes difficult to access due to the high occupancy of moorings during the main season.
