WC ILCA: Stipanović and Jurišić remained in the competition for medals

Croatian sailors Tonči Stipanović and Filip Jurišić are competing for medals at the ILCA 7 World Class Olympic Championship (formerly Laser) held in the Mexican Riviera Narayit. After winning a place in the final group where six new races awaited them, members of the Split JK Mornar held on to the top of the standings. In the first two races of the final group, Stipanović finished 13th and ninth, and Jurišić third and 51st, and both advanced in the overall standings.

Four races before the end, Stipanović holds the fifth place with 49 negative points, and Filip Jurišić the seventh place with 51 negative points. Frenchman Jean-Baptiste Bernaz is convincingly at the forefront with 17 negative points and he will probably win gold, but the fight for the remaining two medals is completely open because the second Hungarian Jonathan Vadnai with 43 points, a point ahead of Stipanovic are still New Zealanders Thomas Saunders and Irishman Finn Lynch (48 each), and along with Jurišić, there is also the British Eliot Hansen (51).
