Nautical tourism in Biograd is currently above expectations
Biograd na Moru was a tourist record holder a few years ago. But there are fewer overnight stays and arrivals, as everywhere, since we welcome tourists in the new conditions.
"Let's compare, Biograd had quite solid results in 2020 at this time. About 4,000 guests were resting on the Biograd Riviera, which was almost 50 percent compared to the record year 2019, "HRT reported.
"Compared to 2019, the reference year, we are satisfied in these first five months. Our charter is better than in 2019 by ten percent, camps are better by five percent, the only thing that is declining is hotel accommodation or private households ", said Ivan Knez, the mayor of Biograd na Moru. He added that in his city they would be satisfied with the results as in 2019, ie the record season. The Germans put Zadar County in a low-risk area, which means some new measures. When asked if this can distance boaters as tourists who have always stayed in marinas the longest, the mayor of Biograd na Moru answered that he thinks there is no reason to be afraid.
"Since this year it has been shown that nautical is increasing, there is greater security for the guests themselves, therefore - there is no fear," said Knez. He added that Biograd na Moru is protected by respecting all measures of the National Headquarters. The city provided four testing points to both citizens and guests. In addition, hotel houses have their own centers. Sailors arrive first and leave last. This was not easy this spring, for example, for the Austrians and Germans. Until a few weeks ago, the Austrians had to undergo a ten-day quarantine after returning to their country.
"What we see in terms of reservations, if something does not change drastically, we expect a full season in about ten days, at least, as far as charters in Croatia are concerned. The nautical season is coming, it has come slowly, but we hope that it will last much longer, and that the situation in August and September will help us, unlike last year ", says Luka Šangulin, director of the charter company.
