Luxury Dominates the 3rd Edition of the Salone Nautico Venezia
The 3rd Salone Nautico Venezia opened its doors on May 28th, 2022 and will run for 9 days until June 5th, and the CYR was there for our readers. This year's edition gathered 200 exhibitors according to the organizers, and has notably gained traction in the luxury motor yacht segment with an improved display of the top Italian Brands, as well as new international brands such as Sunseeker with 3 models, and the World Premiere of the Monachus 70 Fly by the Croatian shipyard Monachus.
Located at the Arsenale in Venice, the world's largest industrial complex back in the 16th century, the venue has truly unique ambience, with numerous “ tessa“ production halls used in the exhibition, with the Ferretti Group, Azimut Benetti, and Sanlorenzo, each occupying their own halls with luxurious exhibits.
Ferretti Dominated in the water with a total of 10 yachts, including a Custom Line and 2 Pershings. Surprisingly, the exhibitor with the second largest number of boats on display, was the Croatian dealer Adriatic Wave of Rovinj which exhibited 6 Absolute models including the World premiere of the Absolute 56 Fly and two Regina motor boats.
The sailing yacht segment did not fare so well, with only 7 new models displayed in the water, which sends a signal of which way this relatively new show is developing. A bright note for the show is a solid display of electric powered boats, equipment, and charging infrastructure. This makes sense, as Venice is the perfect destination to be at the forefront of adopting electric boating, as its transportation network is water-based, with plenty of potential for charging infrastructure, and battery swapping.
The exhibition halls seem to have an improving mix of exhibitors, which included the Croatian Exhibitor Sense4Boat, offering 24 hour monitoring of vessel status. The Croatian boat dealer Paspartu was also present, displaying the elegant Croatian built Terra Nova 30, as well as 3B Craft vessels geared toward big game fishing.
The exhibitors that we spoke to confirmed that attendance for the first two days was better than last year, even though unfavorable weather conditions prevailed. They also complained about the 9 day duration of the event, but have been unofficially told by the organizer to expect a shorter and more reasonable show next year.
