A new marina project in Sućuraj on the island of Hvar in call for tenders
Croatia’s Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure has launched in April a tender to grant a 30-year licence for the construction of a new nautical complex in Sućuraj on the island of Hvar. The licence to operate the complex, which would include a marina with 250 berths, is valued 393.583.209,46 HRK (€53m).
According to IBI News, entrepreneurs looking to secure the licence include Slovak politician Ľudovít Černák who served as his country’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy in the 1990s, among others. Černák is currently the chairman of Slovak football club ŠK Slovan Bratislava.
The planned investment in Sućuraj is to be located on a plot of more than 100,000sq m. Investors who are interested in taking part in the tender are required to submit their bids to the Croatian authorities by 18 June.
The latest development marks another attempt at awarding a licence for the complex. In 2018, the Croatian government selected Czech company MFA Invest, but the tender was cancelled after the investor failed to prove it placed a sufficient bank guarantee for the investment.
